Svafnir arrived Friday after a long trip up here from Georgia. He is setteling in nicely and enjoying some light work while I am getting to know him. As of January, my students will now have a choice between taking their riding lessons at Buck Luck Farm on Kraftur and Sue's Gumi or at Watchhill Farm on Svafnir. This is all very exciting!

Thank you Kevin, Sue, Sally and Bill for all your support providing a place to give lessons and keep training horses. And thank you Sue for allowing Gumi to also join the lesson programm. He was such a huge helper and it is working out great that he and Kraftur have such different gaits and talents and horsenalities.

All is well with all horses at Buck Luck Farm and Watchhill Farm. Kraftur and I are enjoying the fall and the cooler days and the horses are growing a full coat now. I could not even believe how energetic Kraftur was in yesterdays lessons. We only do one or two a week and he is usually sluggish in the ring but loves the little kids. Yesterday, he was clearly having fun with Claire and Christine.
Feelix is coming to visit us and I cant wait to ride with her again - after nearly 9 years since we worked together at Winterhorse Park.

I added a SALES PAGE to my web site. Clients and friends can list their sales horses or look for the right match. Check it out!

Training at Watch Hill Farm has returned to FULL THROTTLE after I came home from my trip to Germany. I  included a three day sports judging internship at the Niedersachsen Championchips in Verden and had a fabulous time with friends and judges alike. I was able to polish my rusty judging skills and was lucky to work with some outstanding FEIF international sports judges. It was fun to also watch my trainer and friend Janine Köhler do so well. Thanks to Frauke and Mr Rahn for this opportunity and thanks to Swantje and Andreas for putting up with me so many hours each day.

Anybody interested is invited to join us  here in Metamora for a clinic on July 23 and 24. The cinic will be hosted at Sally and Bill Stephensons beautiful farm where we have an indoor arena, outdoor arena and access to miles and miles of great trails.
I will offer private lessons on Friday for those interested. The clinic will start Saturday  and will include theory lessons as well as private riding instruction with each rider riding twice on Saturday and once on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon is reserved for a guided trail ride on our beautiful trails. Any level riders and horses are welcome. Kraftur is starting his driving lessons today!! At age 19, he wants to pull a card, a sled or our xmas tree and so we both are getting professional driving lessons from Sally now. Sally has trained several driving horses and was taking him thru all steps just like a green horse and it all was a great experience for all of us. Kraftur looked so serious and was able to pull a tire by the end of his first session. Looking so proud of himself and all adorable in his harness.  Love, love, love my horse!

gun hunting season is starting today. I think everyone of us who trail rides for fun or training is always having mixed feelings about this season. We know the deer populiation needs to be kept a healthy size but riding in the woods right now is not really an option any more and its a great time of the year to be out there. We are very fortunate to have miles and miles and miles of gravel roads to ride and train on here in Metamora... so off we go on those!!

extracted educational articles from the QUARTERLY magazine are now available to everybody, USIHC member or not. We started with three great articles on saddle fitting by Eileen Gunipero and more will follow as we go. I would highly reocmmend checking out this link

John and Pat are here visting Frelsun and we are spending the day with horse talk 24/7.... riding, watching, discussing, planning, looking at video tapes, riding again, ground work, having meals and fun together.
Frelsun is happy to have threefold love!!!!

Week six for Vics training and he is being just awesome, calm and happy and paying attention. Sally and I love having him here and he is great fun to work with. As all of the horses in training are. They are so therapeutic to be around....
Just Kraftur is getting bigger and bigger due to lack of time riding him. I go visit and make up for it with extra grass time and carrots. Which does not help the big belly but work well for the soul.

The Michigan Icelandic horse gang got together at the newly renamed Buck Luck Icelandic Horse Farm and went trail riding. We had Gumi and Sue, Lynn and Svordur, Marlene and Bra, Sue and Ulli with Frekja, Sally and Kveikur and Kraftur and myself riding together and enjoying two great trail rides thru the Metamora hunt country yesterday and today. The horses could not have been any better, we had great weather and the most beautiful trails.  And so much fun that we forgot to take the camera.... if Lynns camera phone worked out well, I will post photos later.

Sue, Gumi, Frelsun and I had a great time at the USIHC seminar with Gudmar and Barbara at Locust Hill Farm in Prospect, KY. The seminar taught us about the correlation of the horses conformation and spirit with riding and training. There were theory sessions, ridden presentations, riding lessons and we also practiced our skills with regard to horse conformation looking at the riders horses. In 95 to 105 degrees, everybody worked very hard and we all learnt a lot.
Barbara and Gudmar were simply outstanding - not only knowledgable but friendly, patient, well organized, easily approachable. It was a fantastic seminar and we hope just one of many to come. The group was very fun and in great spirits.

The Welches had generously provided their facility for the seminar and all of us including the horses had a wonderful time at their place.

Sunshine, some wind, wonderful horses and very fun people were the main components of a recent trip to Colorado, where the Klettafjalla Club had put on a day of riding lessons followed by a schooling show. I was invited to teach and judge, the show was hosted at Anne Kruuses and Dave Irishs farm and everything was well organized. People travelled long distances with their horses to come. The smaller group of riders made for a very intense learning opportuinity, everbody worked hard in their lessons and we got together for feed back after each class. It was a great practice for me teaching and judging and we had a wonderful time. And much, much  fun laughing, too. Thanks to all of you!!!

Back from Iceland and starting kids summer camp. Nina, Flo and Fee will come for regular lessons with Kraftur and Gumi at Kevins barn. Laura and Emilia checked the horses out as well and all of the kids are wonderful, well behaved, so much fun and good riders. Kraftur and Gumi are enjoying all the attention and love the light riders and their giggles!!!! Thanks Sue for letting Gumi help out!

FRELSUN IS FIRST PRIZE!!!! The judges had lots of good things to say about her and all of us, breeders Gloria and Vince Verrechio, owners Pat and John Curtin and I were  very happy about this achievement. We also rode in some green horses classes for experience only. My scores were not that great but the goal was to stay on the track.... and so we did!!!! After being very excited to share the track with other horses the first few days of the stay, Frelsun was very well behaved once the show started. All over a great learning experience.

6/01/2010
The WI evaluations are coming closer and I am excited to take Frelsun. This time for conformation judging only but also showing her in the sports competition in green horse classes to see how she will handle it. A week with tons of learning opportunities at Winterhorse Park, staying with good friends, visiting even more good friends, riding, watching, learning, having fun.How much better does it get?

Landmost is cancelled! This information was published today. Welll.... we are going to Iceland no matter what and will just enjoy the extra days at Thingeyrar instead of being at Landsmot. Cant wait!

Kraftur was named CEO of education at 4-Beat LLC today. This announcement came after he has successfully proven himself as a teacher for humans and other horses :-))

I came back from Germany inspired with new ideas for training and teaching and am enjoying the warm weather and longer days. It has been so much fun training without all the snow and ice!!! The horses are all happy and in good shape after getting ridden all thru the winter in partially difficult conditions. We walked much, trotted and cantered some but the snow was not all that great for tolting. Now is the perfect time for some rather intense tolt training. Hey ho lets go!
